Hello folks!
Sorry I haven’t written anything for a while, but I was busy. I am writing this post to tell you about Easter in Poland.
In Poland, Easter is the most important church holiday. That's why we start celebrating Easter a week earlier, on Palm Sunday. We buy or make plams i.e. willow branches or handmade bouquets of dried flowers for this event.
On Easter Sunday at 6 am we go to church for a sunrise service. Next we go to our houses and we eat blessed food. After that we eat breakfast for example ”żurek” – sour rye soup and stuffed eggs.
On Holy Saturday we go to church to dedicate the basket of Easter food. We put some eggs, bread, a lamb, cured meat and sausages, water, cheese, salt, dough, horseradish and butter in it.
On next day – Monday - we celabrate Easter Monday. On this day we also have Wet Monday and ”śmigus-dyngus” i.e. folk festivities including dousing each other in water.
Please let me know what you think about it. Leave a comment. Till the next time.
